Rejected petition Proscribe Unite the Kingdom as a terrorist organisation under the UK Terrorism act 2000.
After the shocking scenes of flagrant racism, bigotry and hatred displayed in London today, "Unite the Kingdom" led by Stephen Yaxley Lennon aka Tommy Robinson, have made their intentions clear. They are a far - right terrorist organisation. From attacking police, harassing and intimidating peaceful counter-protesters, damaging property and detaining multiple anti fascist protesters for up to four hours, it is clear that their organisation is not one of peace but one of hate and terror.
More details
Several of the speeches which riled up the crowds today, (13th September) were blatantly racist and Islamaphobic, and will inevitably lead to more violence against innocent people. These people have made their intentions clear. Now, it is our turn, as peaceful Anti fascists, to listen to them, to take them not only at their word but also by their actions, and proscribe this organisation as terrorists. Their hate has no place here.
The UK's CONTEST strategy's four-pillar approach to countering terrorism, Prevent, Pursue, Protect, and Prepare, needs to be consulted and vigorously applied to the threat posed by these people.
