Petition Ban Pavement Parking Put Safety and Access First
When pavements are blocked, pedestrians are funnelled into the carriageway, creating pinch points, reducing safe walking space, and increasing conflict between pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Vehicles parked close to junctions and crossings also create blind spots, obstructing sight-lines and making it harder for all road users to see and be seen — a known contributor to collisions.

• 95% of people with sight loss say they have encountered difficulties due to vehicles parked on pavements. Among wheelchair and mobility scooter users, the figure is even higher at 99%. Parents with children report problems at 98%, and those with hearing loss at 92%. In contrast, pedestrians without disabilities still report high levels of disruption at 75%
