Petition Consider a right to roam law that allows individuals to responsibly and legally camp on public land.

Wild camping is extremely beneficial for individuals who may have too much weight on their shoulders. It allows us to freely remove ourselves from toxic and harmful environments, allowing us to find our inner peace and bring us back to connection with the beauty of nature.

More details

Wild camping is more than just a free place to sleep; it’s a vital tool for restoring our mental health and rekindling a connection to the landscape that modern life often severs. By stepping away from the "always-on" digital world and the noise of urban life, campers can significantly reduce cortisol levels, reset their circadian rhythms for better sleep, and build a unique sense of self-reliance and resilience. Legally, groups like the Right to Roam campaign argue that access to nature should be a fundamental right rather than a privilege restricted by land ownership, as it fosters a deeper sense of stewardship—when people truly experience and love these wild places, they are far more likely to protect them. Furthermore, legalising responsible wild camping across more of the UK—following the lead of Scotland's successful Land Reform Act—would democratise the outdoors, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their socio-economic situation, can benefit from the peace.
