Petition Remove the Grade-II listed status from Groves High School in Wrexham, to start new building.

Groves High School in Wrecsam was shut down in 2003, and now it is a Grade-II listed building, due to its 'heritage'. The school is abandoned, and leaves an ugly mark on our city.

The High Court ruled in 2016 which removed the listing, however the Welsh Government reinstated its Grade-II listing within a month.

There are various bids and campaigns to reuse the site for purposes such as a community hospital (Groves Petition), an art gallery, or more.

More details

The site is found in mid-Wrexham, nearby a large shopping area, a leisure centre, a site for Coleg Cambria, and places being used for other purposes such as caring for the elderly, law, etc.

According to a Leader Live report (https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/25369368.ongoing-cost-looking-groves-school-wrexham), Wrexham Council have said that it has cost the council £821,255, through vandalism, weather conditions, etc.

These funds could be used for needed improvements of healthcare in Wrexham, education, policing, etc.
