Petition End the Two Year Restriction on Injectable Weight Loss Medicines in Wales
We are calling on the Welsh Government to review NHS policy regarding injectable weight loss medicines such as Mounjaro and Wegovy to allow long-term prescriptions where there is a clinical need, rather than limiting treatment to two years.
Obesity is a chronic health condition and many patients are at risk of regaining weight and worsening physical and mental health when treatment is stopped due to a fixed time limit.

For many people, the only option is then to pay privately for these medicines, with costs that can reach up to £300 a month. This creates severe financial pressure, poverty and poor mental health for people who depend on the treatment.
Decisions about continuing treatment should be made on the basis of clinical need and medical benefit, not arbitrary time constraints.
We are calling on the Welsh Government to create a more flexible, fair and compassionate system for treating obesity in the long term.
