Rejected petition Stop Cardiff Council from replacing the Pentwyn Park and Ride with a data centre

Cardiff Council’s development partners have submitted plans to replace the Pentwyn Park and Ride with a huge data centre.

We call upon the Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning to call-in application 26/00109/HYB before the planning committee consider it.

Providing access to Wales's largest hospital should be more important than building a data centre.

More details

Following a consultation over December 2025 and January 2026, which was overwhelmingly negative the developer submitted plans to that would scrap the park & ride used by hospital staff, patients and visitors.

The developer’s own consultation report admits that most respondents opposed removing the park & ride – yet the plans are going ahead anyway.

This park & ride is a vital transport link to the hospital, helping reduce traffic and making access easier for those who need it most. Removing it would be a backwards step.

Over 2600 signed a petition to Cardiff Council objecting to these plans from across Cardiff and the surrounding area, so this is an application of regional significance.
