Petition Immediately impose a moratorium on onshore wind energy projects using 200 m or larger turbines.
There is mounting peer reviewed evidence of serious harm to human health and the environment from large, modern wind turbines.
The 2026 Noise Guidance offers no protection against low frequency noise and infrasound nor amplitude modulation (pulsing) at lower frequencies.
Policy is based on outdated and irrelevant data. In fact no real data for sound pressure levels in a real world scenario. Contrary to the guidance infrasound propagation CAN and must be modelled for safe separation distances.
More details
Peer reviewed high fidelity noise modelling tools are available that are far superior to the methods employed to model noise that do not address low frequencies, weather, terrain etc.
This should be a requirement of every project and Local Impact Report to establish safe separation distances from residential properties and workplaces.
The impacts of 35 to 40 years exposure to high levels of amplitude modulated infrasound are entirely unknown and unrecognised by authorities.
This is not addressed in the new Noise Guidance which is entirely a construct of the industry and their paid consultants. Independent testimony was ignored.
Welsh residents must not be put at risk in the dash for renewable energy when safer alternative technology is consistently under development.
We seek open, independent and transparent investigation and a complete halt on all large scale wind energy projects consented, in planning or pre planning until this is completed.
