Rejected petition Review the planning and appeal process for Quarry Farm, Oakenholt.

Quarry Farm in Oakenholt has raised concerns about housing development and local infrastructure. The original 121-home application was refused by Flintshire County Council in June 2025 over concerns including overdevelopment, density, layout and living conditions. Following an appeal, the refusal was overturned. A revised application for 109 affordable homes was approved in July 2026. Residents want the planning and appeal process to be properly reviewed.

More details

Residents support affordable housing but believe development must be properly assessed and supported by adequate infrastructure and services. Concerns at Quarry Farm include traffic and road safety, pressure on local roads and public services, drainage, surface water and flooding, environmental and wildlife impacts, and effects on community wellbeing.

On 8 June 2026, Flintshire County Council declared a healthcare emergency affecting residents of Flintshire and called on Welsh Government and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to take urgent action.

We ask Welsh Government to review the planning and appeal process relating to Quarry Farm and consider whether the infrastructure, healthcare, transport, drainage, flooding, environmental and community impacts were adequately assessed.
