Petition Call for an inquiry into ALN-related attitudes and practices within local authorities in Wales
The object of this inquiry would be to publicly acknowledge the wrongdoings of local authorities in regards to their behaviour surrounding ALN-related issues in education. After the recent revelations made by a whistleblower from a local authority, in addition to the already widely understood issues with local authorities and schools experienced by ALN parents, the scope of these issues and the effect they have need to be publicly acknowledged by government so that standards can be improved.

It is already known within the ALN community that local authorities and schools neglect their responsibilities to deliver adequate provisions to children with additional learning needs. Not only do these institutions neglect their duties, but we believe they do this through consciously hostile or emotionally manipulative means in order to cause maximum distress in both ALN parents/carers and children. Issues also include: use of defamatory, aggressive, or belittling language directly or covertly towards ALN parents/carers, as well as threatening and bullying behaviour through administrative communications (e.g. school letters arriving on weekends to cause maximum distress and upheaval to family life).
Everyone within the ALN community knows the damage that the current system causes to families, especially children within mainstream education, and we have had enough of being gaslit into thinking that we're the problem. The system is broken and it needs to change so that every child has a fair education.
