Petition Enable NHS Wales to Partner with Approved Digital Providers to Improve Access to Pharmacy Services.
Patients in Wales deserve more choice, community pharmacies deserve the tools to thrive, and NHS staff need pressure relieved. In England, approved providers can securely connect NHS and pharmacy systems, bringing prescriptions, communication and NHS and private services together. Patients get better access to care, pharmacies reduce calls and admin, and more care can be delivered locally, helping reduce avoidable pressure across the NHS.

Wales has made important progress through the NHS Wales App. Now we believe it should go further.
In England, approved providers can securely connect NHS and pharmacy systems. Patients gain more choice, better prescription visibility, direct pharmacy communication and easier access to NHS funded and private services.
Pharmacies benefit too: fewer calls, less admin, stronger patient relationships and the ability to offer connected services under their own trusted local brand. Better access to pharmacy services can also help relieve pressure on GPs and the wider NHS.
We are asking for a secure, open framework available to any provider that meets the required standards, not preferential access for any company or product.
This is partnership, not privatisation. NHS Wales should remain firmly in control, setting the standards, approving access and protecting patient data, while giving patients more choice and pharmacies the opportunity to innovate.
