Petition Begin targeted testing of Soil, Water & Blood in areas at risk of PCBs & other contaminants in Wales
Following the findings of the recent BBC documentary 'Buried', communities across Wales have woken up to the reality that they have contaminated land on their doorsteps.
Many in these communities have personally seen evidence of dump sites not officially marked as contaminated land, and sites where test data is either not publicly available, or where testing is not happening.
Our communities feel abandoned and at the mercy of an unquantifiable risk.

We request the Welsh Government instruct NRW and PHW to work with local councils to commence an extensive and specific testing regime within these at risk communities.
Namely, a targeted regime of land and water testing for the full range of PCBS (PCB 7 and WHO 12) & other carcinogenic health impacting contaminants; alongside a volunteer blood testing regime. This would provide Wales with a clear base line dataset of PCB contamination levels in our at risk communities.
Our residents know that PCB blood testing alone isn't a definitive answer of risk. Allowing us to volunteer for this type of testing would provide the UK with baseline testing (something we do not currently have) & provide the Welsh Government with data to meet potential health needs.
Specific Land & Water testing of suspected dump sites would give our communities the answers they so desperately need. We deserve clarity to the risks that may lie beneath our feet.
