Completed petition Save Welsh Milk, its infrastructure & its jobs
We call upon the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to protect Welsh Milk Production, Processing and the Dairy Infrastructure within Wales, rather than rely on the facilities centrally managed within the greater UK, a long way from the many Welsh farms particularly in the West of the country. We are not suggesting that the Government promote one business or brand, but rather promote investment in any business processing milk in Wales, either fresh liquid milk, butter or cheese.
More details
Welsh Milk sent across the UK & beyond is good news, but taking it across the boarder to process only to bring it back to Welsh consumers is a travesty, allowing the traditional centres of Welsh Milk production to loose their ability to process their own milk, and take it directly to Welsh shops & consumers.West Wales for example, has been a wonderful source of quality milk for years, but now over 90% of it is taken from the region, and even stores within the West Wales area now have to take milk processed hundreds of miles away. Save Welsh Milk wants to keep processing locally, reduce the miles milk travels, cut carbon production, and deliver fresher milk. Please sign our petition.
