Rejected petition Allow gyms to remain open in tier 4 lockdown in Wales.
Gyms play a vital part in helping people and reducing stresses on the NHS due to mental health issues. Gyms and physical activity is seen as a go to by many people in Wales to help with issues arising from mental health conditions such as Anxiety and Depression.
More details
Going from BBC data only 2.8% of infection affected gym users and that transmission could not be pinpointed toward it actually spreading in the gym, it was just a place those 2.8% of daily transmissions visited regularly.
2.8% may be considered high by some, but the figure itself could be far lower as to people who actually have it transmitted via the gym.
Going off of the Sam statistics supermarkets stand at 11.2%, bars at 7.4% and secondary schools at 6.8%.
Two of which are currently allowed open under the current Senedd guidelines with much higher rates of infection. All we are asking is the Senedd to consider allowing gyms to reopen to play a pivotal role in keeping us fit and healthy and allowing us our escape from “reality” to improve our mental well-being. All of which could improve our ability to fight the virus.
