Rejected petition Reject the proposal for 36 more Senedd members-we already have enough members.
The Welsh Government has proposed to increase Senedd member numbers by 36 by 2026. the extra members will want support staff. This will mean adjustments within the Senedd in order to accommodate the extra staff.
More details
It has been estimated that the set up cost will be £8,000,000 and that the annual ongoing cost may be as much as almost £18,000,000. There must be better ways to spend Welsh tax-payers’ money such as dentistry, NHS, education, social services to name a few. When all the money wasted by the Welsh government in the past is considered, it makes sense that this proposal is put to a vote by the Welsh public.
