Rejected petition I would like the banning of pavement parking in Wales, with the introduction of statutory fines.
There seems to be an increasing need for people with cars (particularly SUVs and vans, to park on pavements or verges without consideration for pedestrians or any damage to soft verges, even when there is sufficient space to park completely on the road.
While some areas of the Valleys in particular have huge parking issues then perhaps designated areas could be allowed pavement parking but for permit holders only.

Personal experience. For example:
Churned up grass verges on my estate.
As someone who walks miles day, the very frequent need to navigate around pavement parkers via the road.
It is already illegal in Scotland and London.
Already highlighted by charities such as Guide Dogs for the Blind.
It is an obvious, frequent, and seemingly acceptable offence, made worse by the increasing size of cars and the arrogance of those who drive them.
Why was this petition rejected?
There’s already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue, or if the Petitions Committee has considered one in the last year.
